The Opportunity

Goal Group is seeking expressions of interest for uing Export Controls opportunities to join our expanding team in Canberra, providing support to Defence and Defence industry/adjacent industry clients. You will join a vibrant and growing Export Controls team at Goal Group. Tasks will vary depending on your skills and the assignment and may include but not be limited to:
1. Development and implementation ofplete Tradepliance Frameworks for clients
2. Providing specialist advice to clients pertaining to Defence Export and Import activities, tradepliance oversight, solutions and rmendations in facilitating import and export activities, such as guidance on agreements, licenses and permits
3. Development or improvement of client Technology Control Plans
4. Data Management review / consolidation and organisation of current client records or assisting with internalpliance reviews and audits; conducting spot checks on processes and tradepliance data integrity and/or creation of auditpliance Check methodology.
5. Progressing Tradepliance documentation, such as applications and amendments to Technical Assistance Agreements, Third Party Retransfers, License amendments etc.
6. Recordkeeping processespliant with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Export Administration Regulations (EAR), Australian Defence Export Controls, European and other relevant policy requirements, Export Control rules and regulations.
7. Ensuring that client Project teams fully understand their access, re-export and transfer obligations.
8. Preparing periodic reports based on agreed set of KPIs as well as reporting nonpliance, corrective actions and impacts.
9. Delivering ITC/EC training to various clients and stakeholders, via both online and face to face methods
10. Ensure that projects have attained the required permits/license in support of tangible/in-tangible export and manage any changes to the authorisations accordingly.
11. Researching changes to legislation and other activities pertinent to clients and theirpliance obligations including identifying 'red flags' with a keen eye to relevance and impact on clients
12. Writing and /or contributing to thought leadership: Export Controls blogs, articles etc and other tasks as may be required.
About you
13. Possess current/recent experience in an International Tradepliance / Export Controls (ITAR) role is required (or knowledge gained in adjacent functional roles such as contracts/mercial administration or similar, within the Defence Sector.
14. Knowledge of Australian, and European Export Controls laws, Customs Regulations and experience in overallpliance with facilitating import and export activities in the Australian Defence environment.
15. Experience in interpretation and implementation ofernment policy relating to International Tradepliance/Export Controls within the Australian Defence industry, or adjacent industry that is subject to similar regulations due to handling of ITAR controlled technology.
16. Currently hold an NV1 Clearance is ideal. The ability to obtain and hold amonwealth of Australia (CoA) Security Clearance is essential for work in this space. Please note, only Australian Citizens are eligible to obtain an Australian CoA (Defence) NV1 Security Clearance.
17. Experience in delivering International Tradepliance/Export Controls training is highly desirable.
18. Tertiary qualifications in internationalmerce, Law, economics, policy or international relations will be highly regarded.
19. Ability to work independently, but collaboratively, as part of a team, be it on-site, hybrid or remotely - depending on your location / location of assignment. Some travel may be required for remote workers eg: a few days to a week a month (flexible).
