Job Title: Legal Counsel
Location: Australia (to be based in either Sydney or Melbourne office)

Join our dynamic team at a leading global fintech company as we continue to expand our global operations. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Legal Counsel to join our legal and compliance team in Australia (Melbourne or Sydney office). This pivotal role will involve providing comprehensive legal and regulatory support to our licensed entities across the world, including regulatory bodies such as ASIC, FCA, EU, and APAC regions.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with the Global Legal and Compliance Team to provide regulatory and compliance support to licensed entities worldwide.
* Manage and oversee regulatory license applications and ongoing compliance obligations for various jurisdictions, including ASIC, FCA, EU, and APAC regions.
* Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure compliance with global regulatory requirements.
* Monitor and ensure adherence to mandatory reporting and filing obligations across multiple jurisdictions.
* Provide expert legal guidance and support on regulatory and compliance matters to global and regional teams.
* Conduct regular legal and compliance assessments and audits to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
* Stay updated on regulatory developments and changes in relevant jurisdictions, and communicate updates to relevant stakeholders.
* Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and regulatory filings.
* Collaborate with legal, risk management, and other departments to address regulatory and compliance issues effectively.
* Manage relationships with regulatory authorities and external consultants as necessary.
Qualifications:
* Minimum of 3-5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE) in compliance, legal, or regulatory roles within the financial services industry.
* Experience in regulatory, M&A, capital markets, general corporate, or asset management is highly desirable.
* Bachelor's degree in law; advanced degree or relevant certifications preferred.
* Proficiency in English; proficiency in other languages, particularly in the APAC region, is an advantage.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
* Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of compliance and ethics.
