About Role
The Senior Community Development Officer plays a crucial role in SSI's community
engagement initiatives, working under the Community Relations Manager to deliver key
programs and provide leadership support within the team. This position is responsible for
implementing the Community Action for Multicultural Society (CAMS) contract in the
designated Redlands and the Settlement Engagement and Transition Support (SETS)
Community Capacity Building (CCB) activities across Brisbane, Logan, Ipswich, and Moreton
South. The role also involves mentoring team members, contributing to report writing, and
serving as a lead figure in the community development team.
Essential Criteria
* Five years’ equivalent experience and/or Tertiary qualifications in Community Development/Development studies or relevant Discipline.
* Demonstrated experience in working with marginalised communities and an understanding of settlement issues relevant to people from a CALD background.
* Demonstrated skills and experience in undertaking community development in challenging areas with minimum support structure for CALD communities. ·
* Demonstrated skills in partnership development and relationship management. ·
* Strong Knowledge and understanding of project management and community engagement strategies in the multicultural sector including relevant government policies and programs. ·
* Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills including the ability to deal constructively with complex and sometimes conflicting situations. ·
* Highly developed advocacy and negotiation skills in order to represent ACSL in a professional and positive manner to government agencies and other external bodies. ·
* Policy formulation, development and implementation experience with demonstrated strong negotiation and decision making skills. ·
* Proficiency in using MS office, databases and communication technologies. · Demonstrated experience in engaging with women, men and families into program. · This role will require a professional who works autonomously.
* Demonstrated experience in the provision of culturally appropriate and sensitive services to people of CALD background ·
* Demonstrated skills and experience in engaging CALD communities in a new region. ·
* Preference will be given to candidate who demonstrates experience in working with Redlands’ CALD communities
