About Us Founded in 1916, RSL NSW is a member-based veterans' charity. Our purpose is to support veterans and their families by effective advocacy, and connecting them to services that improve their wellbeing. We also assist in connecting them to their local community through camaraderie, recreation and commemoration.RSL NSW does not own or operate clubs or poker machines, and RSL NSW and its sub-Branches are separate entities from RSL Clubs. What You Will Do Looking to make an impact through advocacy and engagement with a community and key stakeholders that creates better outcomes for our veterans and their families?You will hit the ground running developing and implementing a proactive advocacy strategy, encompassing lobbying, policy analysis and legislative monitoring that will influence policy, and grow our engagement and strategic positions with key government stakeholders.With your calm command, you will manage and contribute to responses to the outcomes from the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide, and provide issues and crisis management support as needed.Acting as a conduit between RSL NSW and all levels of government and media outlets will be familiar territory for you. Building multi-layered relationships that leverage our knowledge and position as the leading support for veterans and their families will be key to your success.The role is also responsible for ensuring a consistent and cohesive voice for RSL NSW that aligns with our objectives and ensures our brand is well represented and understood across all external platforms. Who You Are Your successful 5+ years experience working in a political office, government department, industry peak body, or other similar role in policy or media analysis, development or advisory will be highly regarded.Curious by nature, you have a strong understanding of government processes, public policy and the media landscape. You can turn technical content into easy to digest, readable and readily understandable content.An excellent communicator and builder of communication channels, you understand the importance of stakeholder engagement with policymakers, industry influencers, community leaders and media. You will also be self-motivated, persistent, and thrive on finding solutions by thinking beyond the obvious.Comfortable at leading others, you understand the importance of team development and alignment to government relations and corporate affairs strategies. Above all, you possess a social conscience and a passion for changing people's lives for the better.
