Our clients are a Sydney-based family who recently expanded their agricultural investment by purchasing another farm close to Wagga Wagga in the Riverina region of NSW.
The farm covers 1,130 Ha of arable, red loam country situated in one of the most productive valleys of Big Springs.
On offer is a unique and exciting opportunity to join this collaborative team as a Farm Manager.
This new role offers a chance for a suitably experienced and passionate person to design and implement the property development plan for this "blank canvas" in collaboration with the owners.
You will be integral in planning improvements and development, along with being responsible for the day-to-day management of the enterprise.
The ideal candidate will have solid experience and exposure to various livestock management systems and be able to apply that to optimise productivity and returns.
Knowledge such as paddock design, property layout for low-stress stock movement, and efficiency would also help allow the two properties to flow effectively.
The candidate should have experience operating with autonomy, good decision-making skills, and a strong work ethic.
The owners expect a high standard of planning and sustainable production.
They aim to grow the current herd to reach a carrying capacity of 15,000 DSE.
The property runs a small Hereford herd rotationally grazed on direct-drilled pastures sown by contractors, with a short-term crop program to establish pastures and control weeds.
Ideally, we seek an open-minded, cattle-focused person unafraid to embrace ethical and sustainable farming methods.
You may have an entrepreneurial streak or be able to think outside the box to solve problems and plan for the future.
For example, other enterprises, including novel crops or sheep, will be considered if well researched and a business case and plans are presented.
Key Responsibilities All aspects of livestock husbandry, including health, nutrition, and grazing management. Implement and maintain a pasture renovation and improvement program. Regular reporting to absentee owners with increasing involvement in budgeting and planning over time. Plan and undertake work using contractors as required, considering the necessary budget, performance, and WHS requirements. Asset management, ensuring the property, surroundings and equipment are maintained well and kept to a high standard. The successful applicant must have Minimum five years' experience within a commercial grazing operation. A strong interest in sustainable agriculture and cattle management. Low-stress stock handling background desirable. Have a keen interest in livestock and be knowledgeable about their health and welfare. Some familiarity with farm management systems such as Agriwebb and Xero. Be trustworthy, honest, hardworking, and have a great sense of humour. High-level team engagement, communication, and interpersonal relationship skills. Ability to set and implement plans and strategies for profitable production aligned with budgets and desired outcomes within the strategic plan. The property is ideally located close to Wagga, only 25km from the city centre and 20 minutes from the airport.

The property backs onto the Livingstone state forest, with opportunities for bike riding and family activities.
A neat, 3-bedroom family home in a lovely setting with established gardens and fruit trees is included along with a remuneration package commensurate with experience, skill set and performance.
