What will this role look like?
We're looking for a strategic leader to drive the execution of CAPEX initiatives within our operations and utilities, focusing on enhancing plant reliability and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include translating strategic goals into actionable plans, overseeing capital expenditure projects from inception to completion, optimizing daily operations, and leading a team of engineers and operational staff. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align strategies and resources effectively, bringing a proven track record in engineering management, project execution, and fostering a culture of operational excellence. Our Australian site information:
Diageo Australia employs approximately 420 people and operates in Australia with two production sites in Bundaberg and Huntingwood.
The Huntingwood Supply Site comprises 4 Packaging lines, a bulk spirit processing operation, Distribution Warehouse, and Innovation Team.
Bulk Store has a total capacity of 3million litre of Alcohol storage, RTD mixing capability & Smirnoff filtration.
Our iconic brands include Johnnie Walker, Guinness, Baileys, Tanqueray, Smirnoff, Bundaberg, Captain Morgan etc.
Current production levels of around 12.5m cases of packaged product annually in over 180 SKU’s.
What does this role look like for you?
1. Lead at T2 & T3 level to develop and implement the site asset care strategy and drive significant improvement in overall engineering performance through direction of the asset care teams involved with Packaging, Bulkstore, Utilities, Warehouse, Facilities and Asset Care.
2. Implement the overall Asset care strategy and be accountable for its success.
3. Delivery world class performance in all aspects of the balanced scorecard (Safety, Quality, Service, Cost) Asset care and Morale.
4. Manage a support service for the operation that achieves optimum performance and reliability of equipment, improves site resilience and delivers within agreed budgets.
5. Proactively influence the business area Capex agenda and own/lead at site level. Is an important customer of all Capex spend.
6. Owns the overall development of maintenance competence for the site, specifically the upskilling of asset care teams to accommodate the changes in role brought about by Asset Care and Autonomous Maintenance programmes.
7. Primary contact for utilities suppliers, working with the Compliance team to set expectations for improvement for suppliers and monitoring their performance.
8. Is site lead of the contractor base, runs and manages as required.
9. Effective at leading multifunctional workgroups in problem solving.
10. Builds a strong working relationship with Operations Manager(s) and ManEx Manager. Custodian and advocate of safety of engineering work on site and leader of good governance around internal and external compliance (health & safety, quality and environment).
What will you bring to the table?
Skills, experience, and qualifications
11. Degree level qualification in Mechanical, Manufacturing or Electrical Engineering
12. Other technical qualifications may be suitable when accompanied with suitable engineering managerial experience within a FMCG Manufacturing environment.
13. Chartered Engineer status, or equivalent, would be advantageous.
14. NEBOSH qualified, or equivalent.
Experience (Essential)
15. A professional engineer with experience developed over several roles.
16. Proven technical ability to manage in a complex environment, delivering practical solutions.
17. Delivery of maintenance best practice and engineering project management
18. Proven ability to lead and manage people performance, coaching and development of a multi-disciplined team of up to 15 people.
19. Sound and proven financial acumen
20. Proactive structured problem evaluation & solving skills learnt through exposure to Lean, Six Sigma, TPM or Manufacturing excellence.
21. Proficient in use of standard business (MS Office) and Diageo packages.
Desirable/developed in role:
22. SAP (or MRP systems), Planned Maintenance, Environmental and Quality systems.
23. Knowledge of local Health, Safety & Environmental legislation and controls e.g. COMAH.
