About The School Baringa State Secondary College, located in Baringa (Caloundra South) opened its doors for the first time in 2021, when Year 7 and 8 students commenced at the college. About The Role As the Head of Department, you will: Lead curriculum focus in line with school and departmental initiatives. Participate in delivering the vision of State Schools Division. Develop the quality of teaching and learning. Nurture positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders. The Head of Department is accountable to and under the direction of the Principal or delegate. The Key Responsibilities Leading the planning and enactment of the curriculum across all phases of learning within the college, and the leading of improved pedagogical practices for positive learning environments. This includes: 7-10 Australian Curriculum developed and implemented with fidelity. Senior curriculum development leadership. Strategic evaluation and support of the moderation cycles across faculties. Analysis of student data and development of strategies for improved student outcomes. Development of staff expertise in Essential skills for Classroom management and whole of college consistent practices supported through profiling protocols. Visible leadership, capability development of staff through coaching processes. Leadership of implementation of college instructional moves supported through instructional rounds, learning walks, lesson observations.
