What’s the role? Over 8 million Australian's turn to News Corps stable of trusted news and lifestyle brands each year for recommendations on the best deals and products to buy. This role exists to create and optimise world class eCommerce content that drives engagement and revenue. The eCommerce Shopping Writer will be pivotal in crafting compelling Home and Tech content that aligns with commercial goals and enhances our product recommendations across brands such as news.com.au checkout, Taste, Escape, BodySoul and more. The ideal candidate will be a journalist at heart and have an interest or understanding of the homes, appliances and tech deals landscape as well as News Corp brand's place within it. This is a fulltime, permanent position based in our Surry Hills, Sydney office Key Responsibilities Writing new, engaging; revenue-driving SEO eCommerce content that feels aligned with News Corps’ eCommerce values. Pitching ideas to grow and diversify our affiliate revenue stream in regular content planning meetings. Managing, writing and editing tech deals articles. Targeting and covering eCommerce SEO content gaps with a goal of driving clicks and revenue. Conducting in-depth research and interviewing experts for assigned articles. Optimising and updating a number of existing eCommerce stories each week to further increase their earning potential. Covering eCommerce sale tent poles throughout the year with a central focus on SEO (including, but not limited to Christmas, Amazon Prime Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Boxing Day sales). Collaborating and working closely with social/email/audience development teams to ideate and execute new ways of connecting shopping on Social and Newsletters. Using purchasing data, researching trends and performing a competitive analysis of comparable sites to inform content development and improvement. Representing News Corp within the industry – at press events, House & Garden events and product launches. Who are you? A knowledge of what makes for high-quality, engaging and clickable digital content. A clear passion and enthusiasm for News Corps’ brands, particularly news.com.au checkout and Taste. Previous experience writing clean, authentic, engaging copy for a digital lifestyle brand or publication at speed. Previous experience working and uploading into a CMS. Demonstrable knowledge of core SEO principles and best practices to attract a buying audience. Organised; methodical approach to work with a creative and collaborative mindset. Ability to work against tight deadlines. A flair for working with individuals across different departments. A self-starter who relishes the opportunity to directly accelerate the growth of News Corps’ eCommerce business.
