Our client - a fed government agency - is seeking applications from Linix System Administrator who have strong experience in system administration and hardening. Based in Melbourne office, this is a contract job for 12 months with the option of another 12 months extension.
As a linux security specialist you will be responsible for assessing and recommending additional hardening of Linux/Unix systems. This will include developing tools or integrating existing tools and/or leveraging technology to assess system security of these platforms.
Skills and experience required for the role:
1. Demonstrated experience in Linux/Unix system administration and hardening .
2. Proficiency in Linux/Unix scripting languages and automation tools.
3. Strong understanding of Linux/Unix security best practices and standards.
4. Must have a baseline security clerance.
5. Experience in recognising vulnerabilities in Linux/Unix systems (e.g., vulnerability and compliance scanning).
6. Experience in conducting security assessments and audits of Linux/Unix systems.
7. Proven ability to develop and enforce security policies within a Linux/Unix environment.
Desirable skills:
8. Knowledge of cyber threats and vulnerabilities in OT/ICS environments.
9. Knowledge of Identity and Access Management (IAM) in Linux/Unix environments.
10. Excellent communication skills, ability to interface with customers and various stakeholders and ability to manage concurrent tasks and adapt to changes at both project and solution levels.
11. NV1 Security clerance
12. Certifications in Linux/Unix administration (e.g., RHCE).
