Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water – Hobart TASThe Australian Antarctic Division (AAD) is part of the Commonwealth Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water. As the primary agency for Australia's Antarctic Program (AAP), the AAD is responsible for achieving the Australian Government's Antarctic goals.These goals are to:maintain the Antarctic Treaty System and enhance Australia's influence within it;protect the Antarctic environment;understand the role of Antarctica in the global climate system;undertake scientific work of practical, economic, and national significance.The AAD has responsibility for administering the Australian Antarctic Territory and the Territory of Heard and McDonald Islands.The Antarctic Operations and Safety Branch plans, coordinates, facilitates, and delivers operations for the Australian Antarctic Program by safely resupplying and sustaining the Antarctic Stations and building operational capacity to deliver future Antarctic projects.The Operations Management Centre (OMC) functions within the Operations Branch and is responsible for the direction and coordination of program-wide operations.The JobKey duties will include, but are not limited to:enable the monitoring, synchronisation, and management of Arctic, Sub-Arctic, and Southern Ocean operations through the employment of a Common Operating Picture (COP) system;manage and coordinate reliable information flows between AAD Operations and station/voyage/expedition leadership teams through the employment of AAD ICT systems and equipment;ensure a detailed Operational log is maintained and stored appropriately at all times;maintain situational awareness across multiple sites utilising the COP and inform the watch supervisor of key events as they occur;advise, oversee, and coordinate technical aspects of the COP servers across multiple sites;undertake technical fault finding and fault reporting;provide high-quality briefing material to the Watch Supervisor, General Manager, AAD Operations Branch, and other key stakeholders on significant information exchange issues and their impact on the conduct of operations;employ Incident Management SOPs on behalf of the Watch Supervisor and ensure the required documentation/recording of events is completed;establish and maintain effective working relationships with the Operations Branch sections to promote seamless information flows;monitor the quality of data and information management activities for integrity, veracity, reliability, and credibility;work collaboratively with stakeholders across the AAD and other agencies to rectify Communication Information Systems (CIS) issues;mentor and manage other members of the OMC from a technical perspective throughout the conduct of their duties.
