Based in Sale, Wellington Shire Council extends from the Great Dividing Range and Victoria’s High Country through to the internationally significant Gippsland lakes and wetlands. With over staff and a budget in excess of $m, Wellington Shire Council is a significant sized organisation which provides vital services to a diverse community.
An exciting opportunity currently exists for an experienced leader to join our Community & Culture division in the position of Manager Arts & Culture.
Within the Arts & Culture portfolio, this leadership position is responsible for the business unit operations including resource management, budgeting, program, and service delivery; including the Gippsland Art Gallery, the Wedge Performing Arts Centre, Port of Sale Wellington Centre and the Wellington Shire Library Network.
Key responsibilities of this role include:
Lead and mentor team of 4 direct reports including coordinators and service staff.
Lead efforts across the business unit to ensure strategic projects are managed in line with financial objectives and best standard practices.
Ensure community outcomes are achieved in line with the Wellington Shire Council Plan and build the strategic direction for community engagement with the arts, culture and lifelong learning.
Deliver accurate reporting of all Arts & Culture events and projects, and library network performance.
Effective decision-making on all Arts & Culture operations including the provision of specialist advice in relation to funding applications, business cases and continuous improvement strategies to maximise opportunities for the precinct and broader library network.
Responsibly administer and manage the Arts and Culture budget.
Experience and Skills required include:
Demonstrated experience in a leadership or management role in the Arts & Culture sector or equivalent.
Demonstrated experience leading multi-function and cross-departmental teams to successfully deliver complex projects with competing deadlines.
Proven ability to manage budgets, allocate resources and work on multiple projects simultaneously.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to consult, negotiate and liaise effectively with a culturally diverse range of stakeholders.
Experience producing high level strategic reports, evaluations, and analysis.
Demonstrated capability to lead and support people through organisational change.
