We are seeking a proactive and experienced Town Planner to contribute to our community's sustainable growth and development.
About the Role
* Deliver efficient and professional development assessment and compliance services.
* Assess and determine development proposals in accordance with legislation and policies.
* Provide expert advice to the public, applicants, and staff on planning-related matters.
* Support the mentoring and development of junior planning staff.
* Actively engage in improving planning processes and strategies.
* Gain valuable experience in coastal planning and management, addressing the challenges and opportunities of development in a unique coastal environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Interpret and apply planning legislation to assess development applications and resolve disputes.
* Investigate non-compliance issues and identify practical planning solutions.
* Represent the organization in dealings with public authorities, consultants, and the local community.
* Prepare clear, concise reports and communication materials for stakeholders.
* Contribute to creating a positive and cooperative team environment.
What We're Looking For
* A degree in Town Planning or a related field.
* Extensive experience in development assessment and a strong knowledge of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act and Local Government Act.
* Proven ability to mentor and train less experienced staff.
* Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and corporate software applications.
* A current Class C driver's license.
Desirable Criteria
* Local Government experience.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development.
* An interest in and commitment to developing expertise in coastal planning and environmental management.
