Join to apply for the eSafety - Senior Lawyer, EL 1 role at eSafety CommissionerThis is a great mobility opportunity for an EL1 Senior Lawyer or high performing APS 6 Lawyer wanting to broaden their experience in a small, high profile regulatory agency.eSafety is committed to addressing a range of online harms encountered by Australians of all ages, including online child sexual exploitation material, content depicting terrorist and extremist violence, image-based abuse, cyberbullying targeting children and adult cyber abuse. eSafety also delivers education and resources to help educate all Australians about online safety, and runs programs and projects related to safeguarding Australians at risk from online harms and promoting safer, more positive online experiences.As a Senior Lawyer, you will provide practical advice on a diverse range of topics, including administrative law and public law, investigations and enforcement, the Basic Online Safety Expectations (‘BOSE’) Industry Codes and Standards, the Social Media Minimum Age, and other regulatory schemes. You will also be required to prepare and review legal policy submissions on complex and often novel issues and provide training to eSafety staff as needed.The roles will work across eSafety to deliver legal guidance to facilitate eSafety’s operations. They will provide expert legal advice on eSafety’s powers and functions under the Online Safety Act, the exercise of statutory powers (including information gathering and investigation powers) as well as enforcement matters.
