Amentum has an exciting opportunity for a Application Support Specialist to join their team in Alice Springs, NT - Australia.

THE ROLE
The Application Support Specialist's primary functions include:
• Analyze, evaluate, modify, configure, test and implement site-wide information systems
• Support of Operating Systems.
• Responds to user and system problems.
• Prepare application system specifications.
• Identify, plan, implement and coordinate system upgrades, enhancements or maintenance
RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Ability to be able to perform the System Security Administration functions in addition.
2. Provide first and second level end-user support on a wide range of systems, including business applications, internet/intranet and web-based applications.
3. Maintain and configure virtual servers and hardware.
4. Resolve user hardware and software problems with printers, laptops and desktop PCs.
5. Maintain and configure Cisco Call managers, VoIP phones and user accounts.
6. Maintains accurate inventory of all IT equipment including networks configurations and drawings.
7. Sets up computers with software, security patches, email accounts, security and network connection settings.
8. Provide technical support for Microsoft Windows 2012/Win7 and Linux operating systems.
9. Correct system network problems and coordinate corrective action with third party vendors where applicable.
10. Support remote access issues with FTP, RDP or VPN.
11. Document Information Technology procedures and generate manuals for custom applications.
12. Contacts and follows up with Information Technology vendors and consultants
13. Provides low-level support for minor internal application requirements, e.g. Microsoft Access, PHP, JSP, SQL.
14. Researches and negotiates pricing in order to make Information Technology purchases with multiple vendors
15. Build and maintain a strong relationship with internal and external customers.
16. Employee may be required to perform duties outside the scope of this document but within trained capabilities.
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential Desirable
17. CompTIA Security + Certification
18. Formal qualifications in Computer Science or
19. Information Technology
20. Extensive knowledge of MS Windows, VMWare and Linux Operating Systems.
21. Understanding of TCP/IP and networks.
22. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work with non-technical people over the phone and in person.
23. Strong problem-solving skills and a willingness to learn new technologies.
24. Ability to work in a team environment.
Desirable
25. MCSE/MCSA, Redhat Linux certification.
26. Network + Certification.
27. ITIL Foundations certificate. VMWare certification
28. Knowledge in Microsoft Applications.
29. Knowledge of HTML, xHTML, CSS, MySQL, PHP, JSP, Oracle helpful.
30. End-user support skills.
31. Ability to learn quickly.
WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS, AND MENTAL DEMANDS
Working at the facility, a reasonable level of fitness is required and the ability to adapt to changing priorities and a willingness to be flexible is essential.
32. Ability to lift up to 10 kg independently.
33. Able to coordinate the actions of a small team.
34. Demonstrated preparedness to step up and take charge.
35. Function in a hot desert environment.

EHS REQUIREMENT
