Job Purpose
This role works across both Internal Communications and B2B Communications. It is responsible for delivering the internal communications strategy for BBC Studios ANZ; liaising with, and advising on, our client's comms needs; and supporting the ANZ Comms team more broadly across the business.
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
1. Under the Head of Communications APAC's guidance, initiate and deliver the internal communications strategy for BBC Studios ANZ, including organising the All Hands meeting and company-wide initiatives, as well as proactively developing new ideas in response to changing staff and company needs.
2. Take full responsibility for liaising with our Content Sales and Channels & Streaming client publicity teams, so that both partners can maximise publicity around our key brand-defining content. This includes working with the UK Comms teams to secure and manage talent interviews for our clients, as well as identifying opportunities for selective key content and ensuring our clients are engaged and on message.
3. As part of this, build strong relationships with clients (eg ABC, Stan, Foxtel), stakeholders, talent and agents to achieve agreed communication aims for our major content.
4. Provide support with third party press release sign off for Brands & Licensing/Production.
5. On identified projects, research, write and distribute press releases – selling in to press as necessary.
6. Work closely with UK and global comms teams to co-ordinate announcements/stories for media outlets.
7. Organise press and stakeholder events, as required.
8. Under the Head of Communication and Communications Manager's guidance, prepare statements and Q&As for sensitive issues.
9. Maintain relationships with specialist, trade and national press in the ANZ region.
10. Oversee key press databases and maintain press coverage dissemination and storage.
11. Oversee responses to viewers' enquiries.
12. Write clear, concise copy with visuals for social media, media materials and executive presentations.
13. Support team with monthly reports to reflect achievements to wider company.
14. Be prepared to offer support where it is needed in the team.
This role will report to the Communications Manager ANZ, but work to both Head of Communications APAC and the Communications Manager, as required. It's anticipated that the role will be: Internal Comms (40%), Client Support for Content Sales and Channels & Streaming (20%) Brands & Licensing support (20%), Admin, reporting and team support (20%). It's a broad role working across different target audiences, with the opportunity to stretch and grow your Communications skills.
Knowledge, Skills, Training & Experience
Essential
• Proven record in publicity and communications.
• Good understanding of the media environment.
• Excellent news sense with the ability to write, clear and lively copy, which stimulates both the media and our own staff.
• Excellent and proven creativity in campaigns/internal comms and evidence of trying out new ideas and approaches to reach audiences.
• A high level of interpersonal skills enabling the post holder to establish and maintain credibility and effective working relationships with a wide range of internal and external contacts at different levels.
• Able to demonstrate knowledge and awareness of all media outlets and the social media landscape.
• Ability to work autonomously with the ability to recognize when to involve senior comms leaders.
• Ability to work in a team and muck in as necessary to get the best results.
• Proven organisational and planning skills – managing multiple communications initiatives, organising and delivering events, managing crises.
• Knowledge of Photoshop and Canva to produce visually impactful communications materials.
Desirable
• Ability to create, edit and produce digital assets for social media.
• An understanding and working knowledge of the broadcasting industry.
• A demonstrable interest in BBC Studios.
