About the Opportunity
As a key member of the Horticulture Maintenance Team, the Horticulture Leading Hand plays a vital role in supporting the achievement of the team's business plan objectives. Working closely with the Team Leader, who serves as the primary supervisor, the Horticulture Leading Hand assists in the development and upkeep of the city's parklands, gardens, biodiversity sites, squares, streetscapes, and associated facilities. The role involves contributing to the creation and enforcement of safe work practices, ensuring compliance with the WHS Act 2012, and adhering to all corporate policies and legislative requirements.
The Horticulture Leading Hand is also responsible for delivering high-quality horticultural work in accordance with current corporate standards and guidelines. Additionally, the role includes planning and scheduling tasks to ensure the work group's productivity and efficiency, as well as operating specialized large plant and equipment used in horticulture maintenance, such as large mowers, tractors, and spray equipment.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have:
* Demonstrated ability to read and interpret Amenity/Horticultural construction drawings and specifications.
* Experience in managing/providing leadership to Horticultural work teams.
* Good understanding of resource and material requirements and allocations.
* The ability to develop strong relationships with suppliers and negotiate on behalf of Council.

Please be advised this is a full time, permanent opportunity with a starting salary at the Foreman Grade 4 Classification commencing at $84,833 + 11.5% superannuation.
