It serves as a critical transport hub for the Sunraysia region, supporting passenger travel, freight logistics, and other aviation services. The airport operates as a private entity and fosters strong collaboration with its sole shareholder, Mildura Rural City Council and key stakeholders to drive its strategic vision for growth and operational excellence.MAPL has an attractive opportunity for a Head of Operations to oversee whole of Airport operations, safety, compliance and infrastructure. Your mission is to ensure that the airport is executing our operational requirements with accuracy and clarity while making sure that the airport is running at optimum efficiency.The ideal candidate will have a mix of strong analytical capabilities, sharp business acumen and a “results driven” mentality. The successful candidate will provide integral support as deputy to the CEO and use a structured approach to drive operational strategy across major business functions and develop an operational plan to enable innovative offerings and lead execution against recommendations. The successful candidate must possess deep knowledge of CASA regulations.About the ROLEThe Head of Operations will:Lead and manage the airport’s operational departments, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant daily operations.Act as the CEO’s delegate in their absence, supporting strategic decision-making and executive functions.Ensure compliance with CASA Part 139 MOS, the Transport Security Program (TSP) and other regulatory requirements.Develop and implement operational policies and procedures to maintain industry best practices.Oversee risk management strategies, incident response protocols, and airport emergency planning.Identify and drive airport infrastructure projects that align with strategic growth objectives.Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, airlines and service providers.Lead performance management, professional development, and succession planning within the operations team.Lead the Health and Safety (OHS) functions of the airport as Chair of the OHS committee.About YOUThe successful candidate will bring their knowledge, ideas, professionalism and enthusiasm to the role:A degree qualification in aviation, business, engineering or equivalent experience in an operational role in aviation.Strong working knowledge of CASA regulations, safety leadership systems and emergency planning.Possess sound business acumen, judgement, decision making and problem-solving qualities.Possess an engaging communication style.Enjoy working with others and contributing to their growth.Strong understanding of OHS systems and safety procedures.Benefits of working with our TeamThis is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced operations professional, and as the deputy to the CEO, the successful person will gain valuable leadership and strategic experience within one of the leading regional airports in the country.If you are interested in this role and would like to apply please click the apply now button.
