About the Role:
This is a permanent position at 14 hours per fortnight within the Mental Health Department, in a community-based mental health team.
The role provides direct clinical care to consumers with complex mental health problems referred for assessments and interventions.
You will be responsible for providing direct paediatric care, including diagnostic evaluation, prescription and monitoring of medications.
Contribute expert clinical opinion to the development of procedures and policy that influence community service provision.
Participate in clinical quality improvement activities in the department.
What You'll Achieve:
* Provide effective, coordinated client- and family-centred Paediatric care.
* Maintain the standard of clinical assessments and diagnosis.
* Support the consultant psychiatrist in providing clinical oversight of care.
* Ensure accurate and prompt documentation of direct clinical work and care procedures.
* Support the training of the psychiatry registrar and supervise an advanced paediatric trainee.
* Collaborate effectively with the Team Coordinator to ensure operational and clinical targets are met.
* Advocate for a service culture of evidence-based practice and continual learning and improvement.
Essential Requirements:
* Registration as a medical practitioner and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians.
* Extensive experience in working in developmental and behavioural paediatrics.
About the Department:
RCH Mental Health is a Level 5 tertiary Infant, Child and Family Area Mental Health and Wellbeing Service.
Comprises community and hospital-based services, including an Intake and Assessment Team and three multidisciplinary community-based teams.
Currently undergoing an exciting transformation and expansion as we implement the recommendations from the Royal Commission into Victoria's Mental Health System.
