Job Summary About the Project UTS and Cisco have formalised a 3-year strategic partnership focused on Renewable Technology & Sustainability. Innovation Central Sydney (ICS) will form a key initiative of the partnership and UTS will establish and host ICS at the Broadway campus. The UTS-Cisco partnership includes three-year seed investment for: • Professorial Research Chair in Renewable Technology & Sustainability• Establishment of Innovation Central Sydney – a co-innovation centre funded by external partners and industry desiring exploration and prototyping research conducted by UTS research teams and students• Membership to Cisco’s National Industry Innovation Network – connecting all university Innovation Centrals and Chairs with Cisco and NIIN industry partners for sharing of knowledge and collaboration. The vision of ICS is to become a global research hub in accelerating the advancement of digital transformation by fostering a collaborative industry-university open innovation ecosystem that has a specific focus on Renewable Technology & Sustainability. The Alliance Manager will support the strategic partnership with Cisco and lead the successful establishment, delivery and growth of ICS. This is a key role for industry engagement with the Faculty of Engineering & IT with significant importance for the partnership between Cisco and UTS. About the role We are seeking an Alliance Manager to lead and manage the partnership with Cisco and oversee the establishment, development and growth of Innovation Central Sydney (ICS). This is a key role for industry engagement with the Faculty of Engineering & IT with significant importance for the partnership between Cisco and UTS. This position will be responsible for all business functions of ICS, including leadership in the development of business and strategy, oversight of resource planning and allocation, internal and external stakeholder management, represent the ICS on national committees, and engage in partner management and research project development. The Alliance Manager will be expected to have close and frequent contact with Cisco and ICS industry partners. The role requires a high level of commercial acumen and relationship management skills, and will need to be able to balance the needs and objectives of the University with that of key stakeholders. The Alliance Manager will need to have a thorough understanding of the university sector, the innovation ecosystem, how industry approaches research and challenges of industry R&D. The role requires an understanding of research and development, innovation and research impact. Key Selection Criteria:• Demonstrated strategic focus and problem-solving capability in relation to identifying, securing and growing industry-research relationships and acquiring new business opportunities.• Demonstrated ability for continuous improvement in complex environments with high level of initiative to work independently and make decisions that strategically align to organisational goals.• Proven capacity to interpret and implement complex policies and procedures.• Exceptional written and verbal communication and negotiation skills, including the ability to make presentations in a range of settings to a range of audiences.• Familiarity with business development in the context of higher education and research-intensive environments.• Excellent stakeholder management, with demonstrated success in influencing and negotiating with stakeholders, including CEOs, to identify business opportunities and fostering collaboration towards implementing solutions. Remuneration & Benefits Base Salary Range: $136,830 to $143,345 pa (HEW9) This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary. This position is full-time, and an appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 3 years.
