Additionally, you will be committed to achieving the goals embedded in the Future Fit Strategic Plan 2021-2030.About the roleThe Research Governance & Compliance Officer works alongside the Manager, Ethics and Integrity, Research Services, Chairs of committees including Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC), Foreign Interference (FI), and other Committees as required, as well as external agencies, to ensure the University’s compliance with relevant Acts, regulations and guidelines.The Research Governance & Compliance Officer is a central position that provides committee support, collates regulatory and compliance advice and training to the research community on matters including biosafety and radiation safety considerations, research safety, dealing with genetically modified organisms, importation of quarantine restricted substances, foreign arrangements, foreign interference, defence trade controls etc.The role works with colleagues to develop and update policies, procedures, guidelines and internal work processes in accordance with relevant acts, regulations and guidelines, in addition to providing high-level executive support to university committees.About youTo be successful in this role, you will have excellent communication and organisational skills, with a high level of time management skills. You should have well developed interpersonal skills and work well in a team. You will ideally have previous experience in organising meetings, preparing agendas and minutes, and being the contact point to deal with grievances. You should have the ability to develop, monitor and review policies and procedures and interpret complex legislation, codes and statements and provide advice on relevant matters. Experience in relation to compiling and providing analysis of statistical information in the preparation of compliance reports for the University and external agencies, including maintenance of effective record keeping will be required. Your priority will be to ensure the delivery of programs for the UNE research community that support university-wide compliance procedures relating to research safety, biosafety, importation of quarantine restricted substances, the foreign arrangements scheme and other regulatory compliance areas.About Research ServicesResearch Services facilitates and supports the University’s research efforts through provision of administrative services and support to manage, develop and promote research, research training, knowledge transfer and innovation.
