We have an excellent opportunity for a Head of Treasury Market Risk to join our Westpac Institutional Banking (WIB) and Treasury second line risk team. You will lead the Treasury Market Risk Oversight team to deliver leading insight and control for market risks taken across Treasury; and ensure market risks are managed in a sustainable and safe business environment within appetite, responsive to business strategy and compliant with regulatory requirements. Your key responsibilities will include: 2nd line market risk oversight of business activity contributing to market risk exposure, managing the market risk profile within Board approved risk appetite Contribute to the maintenance and enhancement of Market Risk Management Framework, and underlying related policies spanning both Trading Book and Banking Book market risk for Treasury Manage the annual review of market risk limits and calibration of market risk appetite proposals for Board approval Contribute to the oversight and governance of market risk models under APS 117. Implement and monitor controls to support APS 117, including Pillar 3 reports and external disclosures Conduct analysis and deliver insights on the holistic market risk profile of Treasury (IRRBB & Traded Market Risk) linking, where appropriate, to Funding and Liquidity risk, Funds Transfer Pricing and Capital Adequacy Provide subject matter expertise on market risk and related risk disciplines (including reporting and presentation to Group and Board Risk Committees where required) Allocation and enforcement of market risk limits per delegated authority Escalation of exposures within approved frameworks (P/L, structural risk, value-at-risk, stress testing) Compliance with regulatory obligations and regulatory reporting, as well as addressing regulatory recommendations and requests. Manage relationship between Treasury Market Risk Oversight and key stakeholders - Group Treasury and Risk partners (Financial Markets Market Risk Oversight; Capital Risk and Recovery Planning; and Liquidity Risk and FTP Oversight). Senior stakeholder of Treasury Financial Risk Committee (TFRC), IRRBB Forum, and Interest Rate Risk Modelling Uplift project Participate and/or lead regulatory engagement on APS 117 What’s in it for me? What do I need? 10 years market risk experience in a major financial institution Deep understanding of the Banking Book and associated regulatory requirements (particularly APS 117), preferably in an Australian context Deep understanding of financial markets Demonstrated understanding of Treasury operations in a major bank Commitment to improve and simplify risk oversight processes Strong business acumen with a commercial approach Ability to establish close networks and working relationships across the Westpac Group Strong leadership and people management Ability to influence others to drive results Highest level of senior stakeholder management Superior presentation and communication skills What is it like to work there?
