Job DescriptionJoining us in bringing a new approach to medical and wellbeing care for detainees by:Preventing and managing communicable diseases among detainees and staff by developing and implementing robust infection prevention and control (IPC) policies and procedures.
This includes designing comprehensive communicable disease management strategies, guiding internal and external stakeholders, and ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements.Your expertise will play a critical role in safeguarding the health and well-being of individuals within the facility, while minimising the risk of infectious disease outbreaks.
You will also lead efforts during the transition phase, helping to establish essential frameworks, policies, procedures, and training for key staff.The scope of this role extends across Immigration Detention Centres and Alternative Places of Detention (APODs).Oversee Vaccination Programs – Manage vaccination initiatives for vaccine-preventable diseases to ensure optimal health outcomes.Lead Outbreak Management – Regularly review and enhance outbreak management plans to ensure preparedness for any situation.Collaborate & Support – Provide expert guidance to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring effective IPC practices and outbreak control.Coordinate with Key Partners – Work with public health authorities and community organisations to streamline outbreak response efforts.Develop Care Plans – Create culturally appropriate, evidence-based care plans aligned with best practices to ensure high-quality patient care.Ensure Best Practices – Ensure all care plans are aligned with the latest clinical guidelines and provide optimal care outcomes.Monitor & Improve – Track infection trends, evaluate IPC measures, and implement continuous improvements for enhanced care and safety.Let's talk about you!Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Nursing with current AHPRA registration5+ years post-graduate clinical experience, including expertise in vaccination programs and infection control in healthcare settings (hospital, community, clinic)Strong knowledge in communicable diseases, outbreak management, and health industry standards (NSQHS, RACGP, Immigration Detention Service Standards)Proven ability to write and implement clinical policies, reports for executives, and ensure compliance with legislation and mandatory reportingExperience in detention or correctional healthcare is desirableYou'll bring your passion for Primary Health Care and be rewarded with:Flexibility of hybrid work optionsProfessional development A collaborative and supportive work cultureCompetitive salary packaging Free counselling servicesTo make a meaningful impact on the lives of those in your care apply for a role with us today.
