At Port Hedland Primary School, we deliver the Australian Curriculum using the gradual release of responsibility model, which incorporates explicit teaching within a co-operative learning environment. This includes the use of Classroom Management Strategies (CMS), First Steps, multimodal learning and Literacy and Numeracy Blocks.

The Role
As a Mainstream Education Assistant, you will assist in the delivery of planned education programs that will help in the development of young minds. In this role, you will collaborate and work in a team environment. Education Assistants will ideally possess good written, oral and interpersonal communication skills to enable the implementation of individual or small group programs, as well as the ability to support the general health and well-being of students. You will ideally be organised and be able to use your initiative to assist with the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment.
Working under teacher direction in a diverse role, you would also provide support to ensure the learning environment is inclusive and relevant with the health and safety of students being a high priority. Managing student behaviour in accordance with school policies and programs is an important aspect of this role.

* be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
* obtain a valid Working With Children Check before you start; and
* consent to a National Criminal History Check with the Department's Screening Unit.
