The Opportunity
A new opportunity has become available for a 6 contract as Engineering Technician to work in our Brisbane process engineering team, supporting process and test systems engineers.
As an Engineering Technician with Cochlear you'll have the opportunity to make a significant contribution to Cochlear's successful history of innovation by applying your knowledge of equipment maintenance on a wide range of specialised manufacturing equipment.
Responsibilities
* Prepare all documentation required for the introduction of new and existing Test Systems.
* Assist Manufacturing with test systems technical support including calibration and debugging tasks.
* Build and document additional instances of test systems with Engineers’ support.
* Procure components and raise purchase requests needed for new systems and fixtures.
* Test, verify, qualify & debug test systems designed in conjunction with Process & development Engineers.
* Support the engineers with coordination of engineering builds.
* Build custom devices and special cables within established procedures and processes under limited supervision.
* Follow relevant quality procedures in order to deliver quality products and services and identify and support the implementation of continuous improvement.
* Contribute ideas on systems and process methods to improve deliverables.
* Work safely, complying with all safety procedures, rules and instructions; and reporting workplace hazards, incidents or injuries to manager.
* Assist with jig and fixture setup and instance control.
* Assist with stock control of equipment onsite for Process Engineering.
About You
* Entry level certificate or equivalent with 1-2 years’ experience ideally in Electronic or medical industry.
* The ability to establish effective working relationships with peers; able to reach agreement through compromise and flexibility.
* Can explain facts to others within the organisation.
* Can create basic reports.
* Adapt to change and implement change to working processes within own area.
* A basic understanding of electronic circuits and components, both analog and digital is highly recommended.
* Practical experience with measurement equipment and instrumentation (DMM / Oscilloscope / LCR / Function generator).
* A basic understanding of hardware, firmware and/or software design (Altium, Labview, C or C++, Python) is advantageous.
