The Role
We are looking for a full-time Child Health Nurse based in Katherine, NT, with travel to remote communities.
This role focuses on improving health outcomes for children aged 5-17 years, providing outreach services, education, and immunisation support.
Your Responsibilities
* Conducting health assessments and delivering targeted child health services in remote communities
* Working closely with families to improve access to primary healthcare services
* Educating clinicians and providing guidance on child health checks and immunisations
* Building strong relationships with the community to encourage participation in healthcare services
* Supporting children with high health needs and working in a trauma-informed manner
* Conducting health education sessions in schools and community groups on various health topics
* Participating in case conferences and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams
* Assisting in data collection and reporting for quality improvement initiatives
Requirements
To be considered, you must be a Registered Nurse (RN) eligible for registration with AHPRA.
You will also need:
* Experience in community outreach, health promotion, or remote area nursing
* An understanding of Aboriginal health, social determinants of health, and trauma-informed care
* Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships with families and clinical teams
* A flexible and adaptable nature to respond to the evolving needs of the community
* A current NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card) and Criminal History Check (or ability to obtain)
* A manual NT Driver's Licence (or ability to obtain) and willingness to travel frequently
