You will also contribute to service and engagement within FaBA, with potential opportunities to develop teaching experience during your appointment.Key responsibilities will include:Establish a research program focused on rheology, grains, size reduction, food processing, and beta-glucan extraction, incorporating best-practice research methodologies.Publish high-quality research in reputable journals and exhibitions.Apply for competitive research funding and collaborate on grant applications.Engage with local and international food science and engineering industries.Contribute to the commercialization and practical application of research findings.Support and mentor Honours, Higher Degree by Research students, and research assistants, ensuring effective researcher development.Effectively manage research support staff and resolve conflicts promptly in line with university policies.Participate in faculty operations, committees, and internal collaborations while building partnerships with industry, government, and professional bodies to enhance research impact.This is a research focused position. Part of the Federal Government’s Trailblazer Program, FaBA leverages $50m of government investment with more than $110m from universities and industry.About YouCompletion or near completion of a PhD in food science, chemical engineering, colloids and physical chemistry, food processing, extraction and characterization techniques, or closely related discipline.Experience in laboratory research experiments with food processing techniques, microscopy, spectroscopy, and other characterization techniques.Strong ability to conduct novel research with limited supervision.An emerging profile in one or more of the following research areas: food proteins, polysaccharides, drying technologies, extraction of bioactive compounds, fermentability, digestibility, and food science-related discipline.Evidence of publications in Q1 refereed journals and presenting at conferences.Evidence of successful participation in collaborations, including international and/or industry collaborations.Some experience in meaningful internal service roles and contributions towards external activities.The successful candidate may be required to complete a number of pre-employment checks, including: right to work in Australia, criminal check, education check, AHPRA registration, mandatory immunisations, first aid and/or CPR certification, blue card check, etc.You must maintain unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this appointment to apply.
