Public Sector People are working with a local council to recruit a Development Engineer for a 2-month temporary contract assignment.
The successful applicant will have a minimum of 2 years Development engineering experience within local government, be enthusiastic and motivated to provide a high level of service with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
This will be a temporary contract role for an initial 2 months with opportunity for extension.
Position Objective:
Provide Council with high quality and timely engineering input into the investigation, estimating and reporting of projects and tasks generally associated with road, drainage, and miscellaneous infrastructure improvements that conform to current practice and standards.
Key Duties and Responsibilities for this role:
* Develop concepts, construction briefs and specifications for development works
* Provide high quality responses for Use of Easement applications, Legal Point of Discharge requests, Planning and Subdivision comments, Building Report and Consent, private development engineering plans and liaise with residents and developers.
* Prepare reports and replies on engineering matters in response to Council, Executive Leadership Team, Manager Engineering, Principal Development Engineer, statutory authorities, consultants, user groups, ratepayers, and the general public.
* Prepare, monitor, and audit Capital Works and Maintenance Programs or aspects of these programs.
* Prepare detailed preliminary designs, including carrying out the necessary computations for road, drainage and other miscellaneous projects as required to meet Council requirements and expectations in accordance with agreed design brief.
* Prepare schedules of quantities and estimates and tender documents as required.
* Carry out engineering surveys and reports on such surveys as required.
* Providing prompt, relevant, efficient, and accurate customer service.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering, infrastructure, or a related discipline.
* Advanced level of written and oral communication skills.
* Relevant experience in development and infrastructure planning.
* Demonstrated ability to work in a team.
* A good level of interpersonal and negotiation skills.
* Ability to prepare and present reports to and for the organisation.
