Discover Your Next Role As an Operations Engineer, you will work closely with key operational personnel to develop factory plans, goals and operational strategies.
You will use your expertise to contribute to the delivery of individual and team targets relating to milling performance, sugar recovery, factory availability and budget expectations.
This role offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in operations management, working closely with the Operations Superintendent and Manager to develop your leadership skills and contribute to the continuous improvement of operational efficiency.
These positions will be based at our Kalamia Mill (Ayr) and our Inkerman Mill (Home Hill) in the Burdekin region, known for its stunning landscapes, rich agricultural heritage, and a vibrant community.

Your Role in Action Factory Optimisation: Provide expert advice on process and operational targets to enhance factory performance and efficiency Performance Analysis: Analyse and report on factory performance, offering recommendations to improve crushing, sugar recovery, sugar quality plans, and financial outcomes Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement opportunities to enhance systems and processes, driving continuous improvement and operational efficiency Capital Projects Support: Assist in identifying and developing capital projects that contribute to factory performance and long-term sustainability Operational Consistency: Support the standardisation of operational capabilities across the site to ensure consistency and best practices Your Winning Combination Our ideal candidate will hold qualifications in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related field, along with a minimum of five years of post-graduate experience in heavy industrial operations, including shift work.
Ideally, you will possess comprehensive knowledge of sugar processing.
Expertise in safety practices, such as Hazard and Operability Studies (HAZOP) and defect elimination, is essential.
Familiarity with the Sugar Industry Act (SIA) and the Sugar Industry Code of Practice, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, will be highly regarded.
