MHIU sits under the Mental Health Department (MHD) within the Statewide Mental Health Services' Acute Care Stream and supports adults with serious mental illness across multiple locations, serving southern Tasmania and those best suited to its services.The Role:Maintain the electronic record of Mental Health Services (MHS) involuntary consumers and consumers on Guardianship or Administration orders on an ongoing basis to ensure the provision of an accurate up-to-date database for all MHS clinicians.Support senior staff in monitoring and promoting compliance with all aspects of the Tasmanian Mental Health Act 2013.Provide information from the record as requested by clinicians.Liaise with MHS and broader Agency staff on administrative issues pertaining to consumers on legal orders to ensure the maintenance of an accurate, centralised repository of information in relation to the Tasmanian Mental Health Act 2013.Provide support to clinicians and the Guardianship and Administration Board for all tasks relating to the administrative requirements of the Tasmanian Mental Health Act 2013 and the Guardianship and Administration Act 1995, including assisting in the timely preparation of reports for the Mental Health Tribunal, recording required actions arising from Mental Health Tribunal hearings and acting as the conduit for official communications in relation to the application of Guardianship and Administration orders.Download reports in relation to consumer legal status changes and report variances to the responsible person for remediation.Provide written and verbal feedback to relevant clinical and managerial staff in relation to the implementation and ongoing maintenance of a State-wide Mental Health Involuntary Orders and Guardianship and Administration Orders Database.Liaise with the relevant nurse unit managers and senior clinical staff of approved treatment facilities in relation to the administration of the Mental Health Act.You will need:Knowledge and understanding of the Tasmanian Mental Health Act 2013 and the Guardianship and Administration Act 1995 and related administrative requirements or the potential to develop the same.Sound experience in undertaking general administrative and clerical functions and in the use of office management software, particularly in relation to the ongoing operation of data base applications.Effective communication, coordination and organisational skills including the ability to liaise effectively within and outside the Agency and to handle sensitive situations with diplomacy.Details of appointment:Fixed term full time, day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible for a period of approximately twelve (12) months. notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.Salary: $73,811 to $79,779 per annum (Pro rata).
