THE OPPORTUNITY
At Ipswich Girls’ & Junior Grammar School, over 700 students undertake instrumental, vocal and drama tuition and participate in a variety of co-curricular activities including a full symphony orchestra, wind ensembles, choirs, string orchestras, contemporary bands, chamber groups, dance troupes, and groups for students interested in drama. Our programs offer students wonderful learning and team-building opportunities that transcend the classroom and foster a lifelong passion for music and the arts.
To support growth and an increase in student enrolments into private tuition, the Co-curricular Arts Department is now welcoming Expression of Interest from passionate and enthusiastic candidates with experience in specialist tutoring. You will join our great team of passionate music and arts educators in one of the following areas:
* Upper Strings (Violin/Viola)
* Voice/Singing
* Speech and Drama
* Guitar
* Drum Kit/Percussion
* Ensemble Directing
Candidates will ideally have experience teaching in both a Junior School and Senior School environment and will report into the Director of Co-curricular Arts.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING
To be successful in this role, you will have a passion for the arts and supporting the development of our Co-curricular Arts program, and:
* Teaching and/or Performance qualifications in Instrumental Music, Voice and/or Speech and Drama from a recognised university or college.
* Demonstrated skills and expertise in teaching music or drama in a private and/or group learning environment from beginner to advanced levels.
* Ability to plan and deliver engaging private lessons that maximise learning outcomes for students with diverse learning needs, musical/creative interests, and varying levels of ability.
* Expertise in and an ability to incorporate various contemporary and classical skills and techniques into individual student development.
* Capacity to integrate technology into effective Co-curricular teaching practice.
* Demonstrate highly effective communication skills in both speaking and writing, and highly developed interpersonal, and human-relations skills in the context of relating to staff, students, and parents/guardians.
* Support and assist the development and implementation of the school’s evolving Cocurricular Arts Program.
* Eligibility to work in Australia or can obtain a Working with Children Blue and/or registration with the Queensland College of Teachers.
