Your new role We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Research Fellow to join our dynamic team at the forefront of sustainable industrial processes. This exciting opportunity is part of the Heavy Industry Low Carbon Transition Cooperative Research Centre (HILT CRC) projects, where you will play a crucial role in driving innovation and contributing to a greener future.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Lead research efforts to the life cycle assessment (LCA) area in the certification and verification processes to enable successful Low Carbon Transition (LCT) for heavy industry.
2. Contribute to the LCA part of the project concerning the intermediate products exports for the Australia-China green steel initiative.
3. Contribute to the development of decarbonization pathways for iron ore/steel, alumina and cement industries
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, industry partners, and stakeholders to develop and implement cutting-edge solutions.
5. Conduct in-depth research, data analysis, and report writing to support project objectives.
6. Present findings as required by the Head of School, representing the HILT CRC projects.
Our ideal candidate will also have:
7. in Chemical Engineering, Mining and Mineral Process Engineering, Industrial Chemistry, or a related field.
8. Proven experience in environmental management, sustainable engineering, or related areas.
9. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and innovatively.
10. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex technical information.
11. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and build strong relationships with stakeholders.

12. The candidate must have a background in Chemical Engineering/ Mining and Mineral Process Engineering/Industrial Chemistry
13. The candidate has a PhD degree or submitted the thesis for examination.
14. Demonstrated relevant subject/discipline knowledge and knowledge and experience in relevant research techniques.
15. Demonstrated competency in a range of qualitative and quantitative research tasks.
16. Emerging research track record/potential to conduct quality research and contribute productively to research teams under supervision.
17. Demonstrated high level organisational skills.
18. Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of a collegial and supportive working environment and the ability to interact with students and staff with cross cultural sensitivity.
19. Demonstrated commitment to applying relevant and applicable policies, procedures and legislation in the day-to-day performance of the functions of this position.
