Coral Coast Barramundi is an industry leader in Barramundi Aquaculture located in Bowen in the beautiful Whitsundays. We are passionate and dedicated to producing premium quality Barramundi sustainably and responsibly, while providing a safe team environment.
CCB is a fully integrated Barramundi farm with our own Breeding, Hatchery and Nursery facilities, Grow out raceway system and HACCP approved Processing facility.
We require an experienced Aquaculture Assistant Manager to join our Hatchery/Nursery team. The suitable candidate will have at least 4 years' experience in marine fin fish aquaculture and experience in leading a small team. Staff will undertake day to day activities within the farm environment and will be trained and educated on a wide variety of the farm processes.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Assist in Daily Planning, Rostering, Staff Supervision and Management of Production
2. Ensuring compliance with WH&S, SOP's and Biosecurity
3. Broodstock Handling and Daily Care
4. Hatchery Control Systems Monitoring and On-Call Response
5. Fish Feeding
6. Tank and system cleaning and maintenance
7. Research and Development Projects
8. Rostered On Call duties for onsite staff
9. Planning and coordinating the operation of hatchery to produce fish fry, considering environmental and market factors
10. Monitoring the environment to maintain optimal growing conditions
11. Identifying and controlling environmental toxins and diseases
12. Monitoring stock growth rates to determine when to grade
13. Transporting fish to new tanks and ponds
14. Directing and overseeing the grading and sending of fish (barramundi)
15. Organising the transportation of fish stock
16. Maintaining and evaluating records of farming activities
17. Fish disease and parasite treatments
18. Live feed production and harvesting
19. Larval Rearing
Selection Criteria:
1. Relevant qualifications and/or minimum 4 years' experience in Barramundi or marine finfish aquaculture
2. Minimum 2 years' experience in leading staff in aquaculture
3. Experience with WH&S and SOP's
4. Experience in Fish Handling, Larval Rearing and Live Feeds production
5. Good work ethic, highly motivated, responsible, and reliable
6. Ability to efficiently lead and train a team to accomplish tasks within deadlines
7. Ability to follow instruction, relay information and report to management with excellent communication skills
8. Conduct yourself professionally while working in a team environment
9. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills are essential
10. Hands-on experience in the use of power tools and forklifts is also looked upon favourably

1. Current Drivers License
2. Current Construction White Card*
3. Current First Aid Certificate*
4. Current Forklift License*
5. Current Telehandler Certificate*
