Job Description:
The School of Design and the Built Environment at Curtin University seeks a Technical Officer (Digital Technologies) to provide technical support for teaching, research, and engagement programs.
This role involves providing technical instruction, support, and services for class activities and student project work associated with specialised computing technologies, including extended reality (VR, AR & MR), 3D scanning, modelling, programming, and electronics.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills and experience in extended reality (VR, AR & MR) technologies, game design software, 3D scanning and organic modelling technologies, microcontrollers, digital platforms, and general computing technologies.
They will also possess excellent oral and written communication skills, be able to effectively interact with staff and students, and demonstrate knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health practices and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide technical support for class activities and student project work
* Offer technical instruction and guidance on digital technologies
* Maintain digital platforms for documentation and digital archiving
* Ensure safe practices are followed in studio, workshop, and teaching areas
Requirements:
* Demonstrated skills and experience in extended reality (VR, AR & MR) technologies
* Game design software and programming skills
* Experience with 3D scanning and organic modelling technologies
* Knowledge of microcontrollers and/or single-board computers and IoT devices
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Demonstrated understanding of Occupational Safety and Health practices and regulations
