Job Title: H&S Officer
DCT Recruitment Ltd are looking for a H&S Officer Level 3 qualified to work with a team of other people on a construction site. MUST HAVE CSCS card as construction site.
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday 7am till 6pm.
Saturday time and half and Sunday double time.
Roles and Responsibilities:
1. Being a health & safety go-to person for all such matters on site.
2. Ensure the completion and regular review of:
o Risk assessments
o Method statements
o COSHH
o MSDS
o Manual Handling assessments
o DSE assessments
o Toolbox talks
o Creating new templates
o Other safety-related documentation
3. Carrying out site inductions, orientation, workshops, training on site where required.
4. Assistance with lifting plans, waste management plans, traffic management and site-specific plans and procedures as required.
5. Carrying out on-site DSE assessments and reviewing findings.
6. Ensuring site-specific PPE / RPE requirements are met.
7. Carrying out RPE mask face fit testing (training can be provided to do this).
8. Oversee and order H&S / PPE related consumables, stock, materials, and equipment.
9. Maintain site COSHH stores, register and assessments.
10. Ensure spill management related activities are suitable.
11. Managing residual COVID-19 risks on site.
12. Completing weekly HSE report for submission to client and TVL management team.
13. Oversee high risk and complex works.
14. Oversee and review temporary works arrangements on site.
15. Ensure adequate dedicated cutting and re-fuelling areas are in operation on site and remain compliant.
16. Assisting the organisation in compliance with relevant industry legislation including LOLER, PUWER, CDM, HASAWA etc.
17. To assist with the creation of, and annual review of organisational policies and procedures.
18. Ensure that safety inspections and audits are carried out at regular intervals on site, and that all findings are communicated to relevant Contracts Manager and Directors, and actioned.
19. Carrying out on-site toolbox talks and briefings.
20. Management of organisational training and competency matrix spreadsheet. Adding new starter information and cross-checking validity of details, right to work and qualifications etc.
21. Keep up to date with changes in current legislation and suggest such changes where discovered and as relevant.
22. Supporting the organisation maintain ISO certification using the company management system and controlled forms.
23. Reviewing sub-contractor RAMS for effectiveness and monitoring works.
24. Carrying out incident investigations, RIDDOR and near miss reporting as may be necessary. Conducting witness/injured party interviews and compiling evidence for incident investigation reports.
25. Conducting research into industry best practice approaches to help the organisation improve safety performance and efficiency.
26. Conducting HAVS assessments and maintaining an up-to-date register.
27. Any other ad hoc health and safety, environmental and quality duties as required.
28. Providing additional general management and support to colleagues across the business.
29. Acting as the company site Mental Health Awareness champion and aiding the wellbeing of colleagues across the site.
30. Any other relevant acts and tasks as may be reasonably requested by Directors.
Skills and Qualifications:
* NEBOSH - HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management
* NEBOSH - National Certificate in Fire Safety
* NEBOSH - National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety
* CSCS card
* Membership to a Health & Safety organization is advantageous but not necessary e.g., IOSH
