#532164 Pastoral Care PractitionerDepartment of Pastoral CareCalvary Mater NewcastlePermanent Part Time & Temporary Part TimePermanent Part-Time (0.4) and Temporary Part Time (0.2)Salary Classification: Counsellor Level 1 Yr 1-4 – Level 2 Yr 1- 4.Remuneration: $37.03 - $52.83 per hour + superannuation + annual leave loading + salary packaging options.THE ROLE:The Pastoral Care Practitioner provides compassionate support, attending to the emotional and spiritual needs of patients and their families.
This is done in collaboration with the pastoral care team, the palliative care multi-disciplinary clinical and outreach teams, and the various faith traditions present in the local health district.The successful applicant must be able to work Monday, Thursday and Friday, they also must be able to work shift work and be on a rotating weekend roster.DUTIES:Provide compassionate, sensitive and skilled pastoral care to patients, families and carers, especially in times of crisis, transition and at the end of life.Ensure information about Pastoral Care Services is provided to patients, families/carers and staff.Understand the diversity and complexity of spiritual needs within the patient population and respond appropriately.Enact best practice regarding critical areas such as: spiritual care; emotional support, grief and loss; end of life care; ethics.Ensure all clinical practice reflects professional standards.Work with other disciplines to ensure spiritual assessments are included in patient care plans.ABOUT YOU:Bachelor degree with qualifications in Spirituality/Theology/Pastoral Care and/or willingness to undertake same.
In addition evidence of supervised training in providing spiritual care, the equivalent of one unit of Clinical Pastoral Education.Experience in hospital based Pastoral Care.Ability to articulate a mature spirituality.Capacity to provide compassionate pastoral care in a diverse cultural and faith environment.Demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills in both crisis situations and ongoing pastoral relationships.Capacity to prepare prayer and rituals appropriate to the hospital setting and individual needs of patients and families.Demonstrated ability to work effectively as a member of a team.Must have capacity to work on a 7 day roster (weekend/public holiday).HOW DO YOU APPLY?Click 'Apply for Job' and follow the prompts.
