We are seeking expressions of interest from law students interested in opportunities to undertake legal and administrative support tasks on a casual basis up to 3 days per week in each of our 3 practice areas (AGS Commercial, AGS Dispute Resolution and the Office of General Counsel). Our casual law clerks usually work up to 3 days per week and arrangements to accommodate university commitments may be negotiated.In this role your tasks will vary day to day but may include:document review or preparing court documents in AGS Dispute Resolutionprogressing routine property matters, and assisting with more complex matters in AGS Commercialassisting with specific aspects of Constitutional legal advice and preparing case notes in the Office of General Counsel (roles with the Office of General Counsel are expected to be available in Canberra only)in all roles, legal research and general clerical tasks.About youThe skills and experience we value include:an interest in Commonwealth legal work (particularly in Commonwealth litigation, property, or advice work)excellent academic resultsstrong attention to detailprevious paralegal or administrative support experience preferredgood communication and interpersonal skillsexcellent legal research skills and clear writing skillsgood knowledge of common software applications (e.g. Word, Outlook, Adobe)ability to work under pressure and as a member of a team.For further information about the requirements of the role, please refer to the role description available below.You will work with a community of professionals dedicated to the national interest.
