Churches of Christ, a leading not-for-profit organization with over 140 years of community service, is looking for an Assistant Company Secretary to join our Legal and Governance team and a member of our Secretariat group.

Your expertise will help us stay compliant, organized, and aligned with best practices, ensuring our mission to provide Christ-inspired care continues to flourish.
What You’ll Be Doing :
* Lead Board Operations : Organize and support Board and committee meetings, prepare agendas, coordinate the production and distribution of papers, ensure accurate minute-taking, and manage action follow-ups.
* Governance Excellence : Provide expert guidance on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and best practices.
* Legal & Administrative Support : Assist in legal research, draft key communications, review legal documents and correspondence, and manage statutory filings.
* Statutory Compliance & Reporting : Ensure timely completion and lodgement of statutory forms / returns, and review quarterly and annual reports for compliance with relevant legislation.
* Stakeholder Engagement : Provide administrative support to Board, Council, and Committee Chairs.
* Continuous Improvement : Support the implementation of corporate governance policies and procedures.
What We’re Looking For :
* Qualifications & Knowledge : A degree in a relevant field (Legal, Governance, or Finance preferred), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
* Experience : Demonstrable experience in a similar role, with proven expertise in corporate governance, compliance, and risk management.
* Technical Competence : Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with governance platforms.
* Personal Attributes : High levels of initiative, strong organisational skills, and effective time management.
* Ethics & Integrity : The role requires a high degree of confidentiality and integrity.
* Strategic Thinking & Problem-Solving : Ability to navigate complex legal or procedural issues.
* Compliance Requirements : Possess a current National Police Certificate, Working with Children (Blue Card) – or the ability to acquire.
