Position Overview:
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing, integrating, and managing electrical systems for advanced manufacturing operations. This position requires a strong foundation in electrical design, power systems, and automation and a collaborative approach to working with multidisciplinary teams. The successful candidate will directly contribute to developing and optimising manufacturing processes and equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Electrical System Design and Development:
o Design and develop robust electrical systems for manufacturing equipment, including power distribution, control systems, and wiring layouts.
o Create detailed electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation using industry-standard software.
o Ensure all designs meet performance, safety, and regulatory standards.
2. Verification & Validation:
o Develop and execute verification and validation plans to confirm the status of requirements at stage gates.
o Collaborate with industrial electricians to build prototypes of electrical systems and components for demonstration, inspection, and testing.
o Implement design improvements based on test results and feedback from cross-functional teams.
3. Manufacturing Equipment Integration:
o Collaborate with mechanical, mechatronic, and systems engineers to integrate electrical systems into advanced manufacturing equipment.
o Test and troubleshoot electrical systems during commissioning and operation in collaboration with an industrial electrician to ensure optimal performance.
4. System Optimisation and Troubleshooting:
o Implement preventive maintenance strategies for electrical systems and components to support reliability, availability, maintainability, and service requirements.
o Monitor and analyse the performance of the electrical systems, identifying opportunities for optimisation and improvement.
o Collaborate with the Industrial Electricians to diagnose and resolve electrical issues to minimise downtime, inform continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure operational efficiency.
5. Compliance and Safety:
o Ensure all electrical designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental guidelines.
o Promote a safety culture in the design, development, build, commissioning, service, and decommissioning of manufacturing systems.
6. Mentoring and Team Development:
o Provide guidance, mentorship, and technical support to junior engineers and technicians, fostering their professional growth and skill development.
o Share knowledge and best practices to build team expertise and promote a collaborative learning environment.
o Encourage innovation and creativity within the team, ensuring alignment with Kite Magnetics' organisational goals and values.
Requirements
1. Qualifications/Skills:
o Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.
o Registered as a professional engineer on the National Engineering Register.
o Strong proficiency in electrical design software.
o DFMEA, PFMEA and ISO 12100 risk assessment development.
o Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on detail-oriented, complex systems design.
o Design for Manufacture, Assembly, Reliability, Serviceability and Maintenance.
o Strong knowledge of power distribution, motor control systems, and automation technologies.
o Experience with IEC 61508 & IEC 61511 Functional Safety highly regarded.
2. Experience:
o Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical design and engineering, preferably within manufacturing systems, automation, or related industries.
o Demonstrated expertise in designing and developing complex electrical systems.
o Proven experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

* $150,000 to $160,000 plus superannuation.
