About the role The Senior Service Designer role is responsible for supporting the delivery of projects or programs in CityLab. Working closely with Service Design Leads, the Senior Service Designer ensures successful project execution through all aspects of a project or program. They instil creative confidence, foster collaboration, and influence strategic objectives to drive improved program outcomes.
Your responsibilities will include: Plan, deliver, and implement all stages of strategic and service design projects, including research, ideation, prototyping, and final outputs. Work with the team to plan and execute key project activities, including feasibility, brief writing, scheduling, and outcome reporting. Present complex ideas to stakeholders through visual assets and models. Inspire creative confidence within the team, empowering others to reach their full creative potential. Stay informed on current trends in service, strategic, and planet-centric design, recommending improvements to enhance program outcomes. Collaborate across the City of Melbourne, promoting innovative working methods. What you will bring… (Selection Criteria) Bachelor's degree or relevant experience in design, innovation, or related field. Extensive experience leading human-centred/service design projects, including research, ideation, prototyping, and final output production. Proven experience using agile delivery methods, including brief design, visual management boards, and project reporting. Ability to foster a safe, positive space for idea exploration, creativity, and action. Experience managing complex issues in politically sensitive environments. Strong oral and written communication skills, including report writing, presentations, and negotiation. Skilled in building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and understanding their needs. Flexible and adaptable, consistently delivering high-quality outcomes in changing environments.
