About the Division / Team
Our Hunter Valley network primarily services the Hunter Valley coal chain – the world’s largest thermal coal export operation – by providing an efficient and reliable rail transportation system between mines and the Port of Newcastle.We manage the movement of around 250 trains per day on our network. Around half of these being coal trains and the other half comprised of passenger services, as well as grain, general intermodal, and other bulk freight trains.
About the Opportunity
Review, plan and undertake the maintenance,repair and upgrade of electrical and electronic equipment, apparatus, systemsand fixtures associated with mobile plant, equipment and vehicles utilised inthe railway environment. Operate plant and equipment as required tofacilitate such works and provide back-up leave relief to the heavy weight railbound plant operating teams.
The role is situated out of our Goulburn office and applicants from surrounding areas are also encouraged to apply.
1. Inspect, maintain, repair, upgrade and overhaul equipment and undertake electrical testing and repairs
2. Install new electrical and electronic equipment and electric wiring according to the relevant electrical codes, standards and company policies
3. Undertake field service work and workshop repairs
4. Maintain and repair electrical and electronic systems for project installations and equipment
5. Assist plant mechanics and field technicians with fault diagnosis and repair
6. Assist in the ongoing management of inventory plant spares
7. Develop the trade skills and knowledge of apprentices through mentoring, coaching and education in an inclusive environment
8. Perform all work in compliance with applicable codes, standards, safety and environment regulations
About You
To ensure success in this position, applicants will be able to demonstrate:
9. Auto Electrical Trade Certificate relevant to the position (or equivalent)
10. Experience with electro-hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electronic systems
11. Experience in maintaining heavy rail/earthmoving equipment
12. High levels of self-motivation with the ability to work independently or within a team environment
13. Dedicated commitment to Workplace Health and Safety
14. Current C Class Drivers License
15. Hold a current forklift license
Desirable Selection Criteria:
16. Understanding of rail safe-working systems and principles
17. HR drivers licence
18. Electrical trade license
19. Air Conditioning / refrigeration license
