Hervey Bay Nurseries has developed one of Australia's most diverse ranges of premium quality house plants. The nursery has also progressed from a one hectare local nursery into a twelve hectare production facility over the last 50 years.
The nursery is now at an exciting stage in its growth, with a substantial increase in production capability coming on line, while also needing to maintain, modernise and systemise a wide range of existing plant and equipment.
To cope with these expanding demands, this new role has been created.
The Nursery is now seeking a dedicated and experienced Compliance Coordinator to join the business at the coastal holiday location of Hervey Bay. This role offers a fantastic opportunity for individuals who have a strong compliance background, particularly if their focus has been on freight/logistics/WHS and are passionate about making a positive difference in a dynamic and interesting production environment.
Job Overview
The Compliance Coordinator will support both the Sales/Despatch Operations and Site/Production Operations Managers in ensuring that all nursery operations adhere to health and safety, transport, and regulatory compliance standards. This role is critical in maintaining a safe workplace, ensuring transport operations meet regulatory requirements, and supporting ongoing audits and inspections to promote best practices across the nursery site.
Key Responsibilities
Onsite Health & Safety Compliance:
Coordinate and document regular health and safety inspections to ensure a safe working environment. Maintain and update WHS documentation, including incident and hazard reports, risk assessments, and safety audits. Support the organization and tracking of health and safety training for all employees, ensuring compliance with training standards. Assist in investigating incidents and support management with root cause analysis and corrective actions. Transport Regulations Compliance:
Ensure all transport operations, including shipping and despatch, comply with relevant regulations and internal policies. Maintain and review transport documentation, ensuring records are up-to-date and accessible for internal and external audits. Coordinate with logistics and despatch teams to monitor transport compliance, including driver certifications and vehicle safety requirements. Audits and Inspections:
Assist in preparing for and conducting both internal and external audits, including WHS and transport compliance audits. Organize documentation required for audits, ensuring records are complete and meet regulatory standards. Track audit outcomes and follow up on corrective actions, ensuring timely resolution of any issues identified during inspections. Regulatory Monitoring & Reporting:
Stay updated on health and safety and transport regulations relevant to the nursery and communicate changes to the operations teams. Support managers in tracking compliance metrics and compiling reports on compliance performance and areas for improvement. Compliance Improvement Initiatives:
Support the Logistics Manager in compliance and record-keeping through the effective use of a comprehensive record-keeping portal. The portal streamlines compliance tracking, documentation management, and performance monitoring, ensuring operational efficiency and regulatory adherence. Identify potential improvements within current compliance processes related to health and safety and transport. Propose and assist in implementing solutions to enhance safety and compliance effectiveness across operations. Qualifications and Skills:
Certificate 4/Diploma OHS or equivalent. HR Truck licence and experience or equivalent. Strong administration/technology/systems skills and experience. Minimum 5 years' experience in similar roles or with similar responsibilities. Valid C Class Driver's Licence. What We Offer:
