Our client is looking for a dynamic and experienced Senior Media Officer to join their media and communications team Role Description: The primary purpose of this role is to support the Media Manager and lead as a senior member in a team that provides strategic advice, contributing to the maintenance and enhancement of the reputation of the department The role contributes to the development and implementation of proactive and reactive media, social media and public relations strategies; and will manage issues and crises collaboratively Responsibilities: Prepare and issue media statements whilst ensuring appropriate approval prior to release Under direction; act as organisational spokesperson as required Support management in providing strategic communication advice by monitoring state-wide media, preparing material for public engagements and responding to media issues and enquiries out of hours (including early morning radio), as required. Support the management of major media and critical issues by researching and preparing media releases and media responses. Ensure a high level of service to members of the media by providing timely and accurate responses to media enquiries. Contribute to the functioning of issues management and media monitoring services; including the dissemination of summary information internally. Coordinate event management preparation for public appearances and writing of material for public speaking by senior management Build effective and collaborative relationships with the Ministers' offices, media representatives, managers across the department and other media and communications staff Skills and Experience: A strong background in media, public relations or communications; with a proven ability to manage high pressure situations. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategic media and communication plans. The ability to build and maintain effective relationships with key stakeholders, including media representatives and government officials. A proactive approach to media monitoring, issue management and crisis communication.
