LET'S EXPLORE THE JOB The Environmental, Regulation and Compliance team has an opportunity for a customer-focused compliance professional to support the team in carrying out investigations and inspections of unauthorized buildings, land use, and developments while providing timely and accurate advice in relation to compliance matters. The position is responsible for timely and courteous action to meet external and internal stakeholder expectations in a professional and cooperative manner including effective liaison with other team members. The position is based at Council's Works Depot, requires travel across multiple sites, and shifts may extend past standard working hours. The position also involves court attendance to represent Council during legal proceedings and respond to customer requests in a timely and professional manner. You will be committed to providing excellent customer service, often within challenging situations, as well as establishing and maintaining effective relationships with a broad range of stakeholders. You will need to be confident with serving orders and notices underpinned by your thorough knowledge of relevant legislation and be instrumental in mediating conflict situations, and representing Council in any relevant court proceedings. To be considered for this role, you will meet the following criteria: Relevant qualification (at Degree, Diploma or Cert IV level) and/or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline (such as Town Planning, Building Surveying, Government Investigation or Environmental Management). Experience in investigations, enforcement, relevant experience in building and planning related matters or similar. Knowledge of relevant provisions and codes provided in the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979, Local Government Act 1993 as they relate to building work and/or land use. Extensive communication skills, both written and verbal, presentation and public relation skills. High level of conflict resolution, investigation skills as well as taking and giving evidence in the Land and Environment Court and Local Court. Demonstrated experience in provision of a high standard of customer service and resolving issues through mediation and conflict resolution. Ability to articulate and negotiate outcomes in accordance with legislation and Council's policies. Demonstrated organizational skills with a proven ability to prioritize high volume workloads. Competent computer skills including word processing, note taking, report writing, and research skills. Class C Driver's licence.
