Orygen Specialist Program Werribee - Permanent / Full Time Date Posted: 30/10/2024 Ongoing Full Time and Part Time roles (min of 0.8 EFT) Free Post Graduate Study Options Based in Little River at Cherry Creek Youth Justice Precinct, Mental Health Unit About your new team: Forming part of the Orygen Specialist Program (OSP), a program of The Royal Melbourne Hospital, the Custodial Forensic Youth Mental Health Service (FYMHS) team provides specialist youth mental health care in custodial settings (Parkville and Cherry Creek sites) to young people and their families/carers. Orygen and Youth Justice staff work collaboratively to support young people voluntarily admitted to the new Mental Health Unit (MHU) at Cherry Creek Youth Justice Custodial Precinct. Develop your clinical mental health skills within a first-of-its-kind voluntary 8 bed forensic mental health unit. This is an exciting opportunity to join a unique environment and be a part of something that hasn't been done before! Your new role: Join our dynamic, multidisciplinary team and collaboratively provide recovery-oriented mental health treatment and support to young people in custody. Deliver mental health nursing care from a Strengths-Based, Recovery-Focused framework and a strong focus on the unique recovery journey of each young person. The role incorporates 1:1 therapeutic time with young people, consumer-advocacy, collaborative bed and unit management, research, supervision and mentorship/preceptorship and facilitation of groups. Deliver high-quality evidence-based nursing care to young people across 24 hours, 7 days a week roster Provide specialist mental health nursing interventions, and effectively manage critical incidents and emergency situations Work across AM, PM, night and weekend shifts About you: Registration as a Nurse under the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act (2009) with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Bachelor's degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing or equivalent, or Bachelor Degree in Nursing.
