Position Information Brighton-Le-Sands Public School is located in the southern suburbs of Sydney, in close proximity to Sydney Airport. The school is renowned for the extra-curricular opportunities offered in sport, technology, and creative and performing arts, enabling our students to flourish through a range of different experiences. Student wellbeing and the provision of a supportive learning environment remain the focus for the school community. The school has 18 mainstream classes with an enrolment of 430 students. The school will be introducing an inclusive learning hub of 3 support classes in 2025 including 2 AU classes and 1 AU/IO class. Our students come from a wide range of socio-economic and cultural backgrounds. 76% of our students have a language background other than English. 1% of students identify as Aboriginal. The school has identified a need to use data driven practices to target areas of improvement in Reading and Numeracy and a continued emphasis on embedding quality teaching practices in literacy and numeracy and a strong focus on data informed practice. Please note there are two classroom teacher positions available. Selection Criteria Approval to teach Special Education/and or experience teaching students with additional learning needs including Autism, Mod Intellect Disability and Behaviour Difficulties with proven abilities to implement strategies to meet their communication and sensory social needs using trauma-informed practices. Demonstrated ability to differentiate learning experiences for students with complex learning needs with a strong focus on growth in literacy and numeracy outcomes supported by the implementation of individualised learning programs that are aligned with the Disability Standards for Education. Evidence of outstanding flexible classroom management skills that demonstrates the implementation of whole school wellbeing programs focused on improving student engagement, creating a positive learning environment and promoting inclusive practices in all school settings. Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to contribute to the whole school culture and work collaboratively to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents, external agencies and members of the wider community.
