Join our APAC Power, Gas and Emissions team as an Australian Power Trader / Analyst in Sydney. Our energy trading division has been pivotal in driving growth and shaping the future of energy markets.
While Macquarie offers hybrid working for many of our roles, this role does require 5 days a week in our office location.

What role will you play?
As an Australian Power Trader, you will play a crucial role in the strategic management of our power trading operations within the Australian market. You will be responsible for executing short and long-term trading strategies, optimising trading positions and ensuring the firm remains ahead of market trends and developments.
As an experienced member of the team, you will develop, implement and manage trading strategies for Australian electricity markets, monitor and analyse market data, trends and price signals to make informed trading decisions. You will also collaborate closely with our risk, analytics and research teams to maximise returns and manage portfolio risk effectively as well as maintain strong relationships with counterparties, brokers and industry participants.
What you offer
* 2-4 years’ of proven experience in an Australian Power Financial Trading role
* Strong understanding of energy markets, power pricing models and financial derivatives
* In-depth knowledge of market fundamentals, supply and demand dynamics and regulatory policies impacting power markets
* Excellent quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to work in a fast-paced team-orientated environment
* A proactive approach to identifying opportunities and managing risks
* Experience with databases, power models, and programming
* Relevant qualifications in finance, economics, engineering or a related field
