Security, Export Control and Procurement Officer
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the Security, Export Control and Procurement Officer is responsible for ensuring Safran Electronics & Defense Australasia (SEDA) remains compliant with Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) and export control regulations.
The role also oversees procurement and supplier management, driving efficiency and adherence to key performance indicators (KPIs).
Key Responsibilities:
Security Compliance:
* Lead and manage SEDA’s Defence Industry Security Program (DISP) obligations.
* Ensure effective risk oversight and security management systems are in place.
* Safeguard official, sensitive, and classified materials in accordance with DSPF requirements.
* Verify security requirements for tenders and contracts.
* Provide security advice to mitigate risks to the business.
* Monitor and implement regulatory changes to ensure continued compliance.
Export Control Management:
* Ensure compliance with Australian export control laws and international regulations, including US ITAR and EAR.
* Oversee adherence to Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) prohibitions.
* Maintain the Technology Control Plan (TCP) for ITAR-controlled technology.
* Provide ongoing training to employees on export control obligations.
* Manage the Export Control Permit register and handle all import/export permit applications.
* Promptly notify operational and logistics teams of export control requirements.
* Address and manage export control non-compliance issues.
* Collaborate with HR to maintain a confidential register of SEDA personnel nationalities for legal compliance.
* Identify, evaluate, and manage SEDA’s procurement needs.
* Source, onboard, and maintain relationships with suppliers and supply chain partners.
* Work closely with Sales, Programs, and Sustainment teams to assess supply chain needs.
* Oversee direct and indirect procurement processes, including RFQs and competitive bidding.
* Monitor supplier performance to optimise business operations.
* Manage procurement budgets and implement cost-saving initiatives.
* Ensure all procurement and supplier activities align with SEDA policies and quality standards.
* And any other duties as defined by SEDA management.
General Responsibilities:
* Uphold Workplace Health & Safety (WH&S) obligations by maintaining a safe working environment.
* Collaborate with management to meet compliance requirements.
* Be flexible with working hours when necessary, with consideration given during remuneration reviews.
* Be prepared to travel domestically and internationally for short or extended periods (up to one month).
* Adapt to evolving job requirements as determined by SEDA management.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
* Tertiary qualifications in business management or a related discipline.
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in a defence industry security role.
* In-depth knowledge of DISP obligations and export control regulations.
* At least 5 years’ experience in procurement processes and supplier management.
* Proficiency in ERP systems.
* Familiarity with quality standards AS/NZS 9001, AS/NZS 9110, and AS/NZS 14001.
* Ability to interpret and work with legal documents.
