Position Details
POSITION SUMMARY:
The Finance Assistant will provide support for our day-to-day transactions, including processing accurate customer invoices, managing the p-card program, and assisting with month-end reconciliations. Michigan Virtual uses a robust accounting system where most documentation, procedures, and workpapers are maintained electronically. As part of the customer invoicing, the individual will manage past due receivables and interact with customers regarding collections. The Finance Assistant will also be responsible for overseeing the P-card program including tracking and entering p-card transactions and reconciling the monthly p-card statements. Additionally, the Finance Assistant will assist with responding to various accounting inquiries as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Process accurate customer invoices.
2. Manage past due receivables including customer contact on delinquent accounts.
3. Manage the P-card program including accurate tracking, recording and reconciling of monthly p-card statements.
4. Assist with a variety of month-end reconciliations, including recording journal entries in the accounting software.
5. Respond to various accounting inquiries by budget managers and other leadership members
OTHER DUTIES & TASKS:
6. Assist the Finance Supervisor and/or Senior Director of Finance with various accounting projects and financial tasks as needed.
7. Assist in the preparation of the fiscal year-end audit.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, CERTIFICATIONS, & LICENSURES (minimum requirements):
8. Bachelor’s degree in business administration with a major in accounting
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
9. 1 to 2 years of experience working in a team-based environment as well as independently.
10. Experience with GAAP.
11. Experience with electronic documentation and managing electronic files
DESIRED EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
12. Experience with non-profit accounting
13. Specialized training in financial management or accounting

17. Knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping procedures.
18. Attention to detail, with an ability to spot errors and proactively resolve.
19. Demonstrated analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
20. Advanced Excel skills.
21. Strong computer skills including experience in ERP and/or accounting software.
22. Self-motivated and detail-oriented with a focus on achieving results.
23. Demonstrated ability to work and execute job responsibilities in-person and remotely.
