The Senior Legal & Compliance Counsel, Australia and New Zealand (“ANZ”) is responsible for strategic oversight and leadership direction for the legal function in the ANZ region and for providing the company with a full range of timely, proactive, pragmatic and cost-effective legal advice and service. This position reports to the Vice President, Head of International Legal located in Australia, And works closely with the Managing Director, Cardinal Health ANZ. This position is also part of the Cardinal Health ANZ leadership team.
This role will 1) provide strategic solutions to the ANZ leadership team; 2) provide legal support to the business and corporate governance of the group/local affiliates: 3) manage company compliance matters and oversee the management of contracts, dispute resolutions and on-site monitoring; 4) provide guidance and advice to internal stakeholders regarding legal/compliance activities & matters.
1. Understanding and implementing corporate guidelines and policies with regard to our code of business conduct, anti-bribery, anti-corruption policies, healthcare compliance policies and procedures.
2. Working cross-functionally to ensure ongoing activities (including interactions with HCPs and HCIs) meets with industry norms and requirements on ethical interactions, to audit and monitor to ensure compliance with those norms and requirements.
3. Providing advice on legal, regulatory and statutory compliance, contractual rights and obligations, including reviewing / responding to bids and tenders.
4. Providing analysis and develop risk-managed legal counsel and solutions to various issues and policies, including new product development, alliances, joint ventures, collaborations, business strategic planning, etc.
5. Providing insights on developments of trends and issues in the healthcare and medical device environment in ANZ.
6. Drafting and negotiating a range of commercial contracts, including day to day supply, procurement, distribution, sale & purchase and other agreements
7. As a member of the ANZ Leadership Team, the candidate will need to weigh in on business strategies and to resolve operational issues cross-functionally
8. Coordinate with external counsels on various projects from time to time within budget.
9. Assist internal investigations and investigations related interviews where necessary.
10. Maintain and develop compliance & risk management program.
11. Work with the International Legal & Compliance team including implementing global compliance policy & procedure, legal & compliance training program to associates, streamlining work processes, etc.
12. Lead or participate in international or global projects as needed from time to time.
13. At least PQE 5-6 years working experience in law firm/in-house. Knowledge of healthcare industry is desirable.
14. Australian current practicing certificate.
15. Strong legal drafting skills.
