Careers and VET Coordinator
Full Time (6 month fixed term contract)
White Rock, Cairns Campus
Trinity Anglican School is seeking applications for a Careers and Vet Coordinator for our White Rock Campus, located in the beautiful tropical city of Cairns. This position is open to applicants from both Teaching and Administrative backgrounds.
Qualifications, experience and licenses
Bachelor Degree in Education or a degree qualification supported by a Post Graduate Diploma of Education;
Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) Registration, or;
Current Blue Card;
Experience in Careers Education, Counselling and VET Coordination (desirable);
National Register Screen (Anglican School’s Commission);
HLTAID012 Certificate – Provide Emergency First Aid Response in an Education and Care Setting;
HLTAID009 Certificate – Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Responsibilities
Administer the careers program at TAS, including:
Coordinate the Year 10 Work Experience program (including scheduling staff visits to workplaces).
Lead the Year 10 “Pathways” program (including developing curriculum documents and materials).
Provide guidance and support to other TAS staff.
Advise students regarding career choices and pathways, including:
Lead students through the QTAC MyPlan process in preparation for subject selection for Year 11 and 12.
Meet with all Year 12 students at the commencement of the academic year regarding career/study plans.
Liaise with QTAC regarding annual QTAC Information Evening sessions for Year 12 students and parents.
Oversee QTAC University Preferences and ATAR Portal access on the QTAC site.
Provide advice and guidance to the Head of Teaching & Learning & Dean of Studies regarding the Year 11 subject selection process.
Meet with Year 10 families as well as individual students to discuss study options.
Oversee the VET program:
Provide student access and information regarding VET opportunities and School-Based Apprenticeships or Traineeships (SATs), and oversee successful student engagement in this program.
Be responsible for completion of all the necessary documentation relating to SATs.
Be aware of and advise students (in consultation with Head of Teaching & Learning and Dean of Studies) of possible other pathways for students.
Lead the regular careers events at TAS and excursions off-campus.
Manage Year 10 Subject Selection Interviews.
Stay informed with current QCAA and QTAC requirements and guidelines.
